Gently Down the Nile

Luxury Cultural Boat Cruise | 8 days

Without doubt, the best way to explore the treasures of Egypt is in Agatha Christie style on the Nile. By felucca, you will visit Elephantine Island, the Agha Khan Mausoleum and Kitchener’s Island — a botanical garden filled with exotic plants and trees. The cruise ends at Luxor, one of Egypt’s greatest tourist destinations, where for centuries people have visited the temples in the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of Queens. This tour stops and starts in Cairo to give you plenty of opportunity to see the Pyramids.

Day 1: Fly to Cairo

Day 2: Tour the Pyramids just outside Cairo

Day 3: Fly to Abu Simbel/Aswan, crossroads of ancient caravan routes, to join Nile Cruise

Day 4: Sail Kom Ombo/Edfu

Day 5: Sail Edfu/Luxor

Day 6: Tour the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens in Luxor

Day 7: Disembark and fly to Cairo where you can visit the Egyptian Museum and the 14th-century Khan El Khalili Bazaar

Day 8: Fly to London

Suggestion: Why not extend your holiday? We highly recommend a few days in Luxor and Aswan pre and post your Nile cruise, or a side trip to the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria to visit the famous Library, Catacombs and Roman Theatre.

You might also consider a few days at Sharm El Sheikh with a side trip to the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monastery in the world – Saint Catherine’s Monastery on the Sinai Peninsula.

For the dedicated adventurer, look no further than the beautiful and isolated oasis of Siwa,30 miles east of the Libyan border in Egypt’s Western Desert, where the Temple of Amun drew men as legendary as Alexander the Great.
