Special offers and new ideas

BURMA - Irrawaddy river and Mergui Archipelago small boat cruises

Once a bustling trading port under British rule, Salay is now a sleepy village on the Irrawaddy River filled with colonial architectural treasures and timeless teak monasteries, just waiting to be discovered.

We’ve got a great offer: 50 per cent off Mandalay to Pagan including Salay, when booked in conjunction with the Mergui Archipelago cruise which operates October - December 2017.

Call Fiona for more information on Burma by very special Pandaw boat.

JAPAN - new experiences for 2017!

Cutting edge Tokyo, 'Hell's Valley' Snow Monkeys, Gassho-Zukuri farm-houses in snow-clad alpine villages, 750-year old Cedar forests, heated loo seats (yes, really!), zip fast Shinkansen bullet trains, chanting monks and Buddhist temple lodgings, Ramen Noodle street stalls, snow-topped volcanoes, 'son et lumiere' over a Japanese garden in the shadow of castle ramparts, bubbling hot springs and Saki, Ground Zero at Hiroshima and a meeting with a traditional Geisha in the secretive world of  Kyoto's private tea houses ... just some of the memories I brought back from my trip to Japan.

Call me if you want to know more, and see my full trip report and photos here and a shorter version in our April newsletter.   If you don't already receive it you can sign up in the right hand column!

CAPTIVATING KASHMIR - from the superb Sukoon Houseboat

Stay on the tranquil water of Kashmir's Dal Lake in this superb traditional and sustainably-run houseboat. After morning prayers In the old city enjoy a great Sufi tradition – a typical hot breakfast (harissa) consisting of lamb cooked slowly overnight in Kashmiri spices, with hot bread made just across the road!

Now that Air Asia have launched direct flights from Delhi to Srinagar it's a great time to include Kashmir in your Indian subcontinent odyssey.

MOROCCO - something new

We've some great new walking and hiking options for the Atlas Mountains as well as exciting places to stay!

MONGOLIA MUST-SEE FESTIVAL

A celebration of the Golden Eagle

For a truly memorable adventure this autumn I suggest a 15 day trip to Mongolia taking in the annual Golden Eagle festival in Bayan-Ölgii aimag.

Held on the first weekend in October, it’s a wonderful spectacle with competitions and displays showcasing the skills of both birds and trainers. A smaller event, the Altai Kazakh Eagle Festival, is also held each year in the last week of September.

Call me if you'd like to chat through possibilities in this extraordinary land.
